Nauvoo
We made it !! After a couple of days of orientation, etc. we are busy. This is how the mission is organized. Our mission president is Pres. Mark Lusvardi and he is over the Facility Management, Site, and young proscelyting missionaries. The temple missionaries have their own mission president (the temple president) and we really don't cross paths very much . The exception is that we go to the temple regularly and see them...also, we , as FM missionaries are responsible for the upkeep of their housing along with all the sites and our own. Facility Management is a huge complex ! They have a fleet of approximately 60 GM /Chev 3/4 ton trucks that are assigned out . Therefore, there is a shop and mechanics (hired employee and senior missionaries) who service and repair them. There is another shop for equipment such as: John Deere tractors and mowers of various sizes, backhoes, dump trucks, etc., etc. The grounds crew are responsible for mowing 250 acres of lawn besides all of the flower beds and landscaping. They have 3 big greenhouses. Sis. Paxman has been assigned to the painting crew. We paint site houses, etc. and keep things in tip-top shape.
Elder Paxman's truck. He was one happy camper !! It comes equipped with tool boxes on each side and he has any tool that he needs.
These are an example of some of the things that he does. They are surrounds that go around garbage cans. He also maintains all of the picnic tables and benches (about 22 picnic tables & 46 benches & 21 garbage) There are 100 picket surrounds to maintain around trees. He also does the split rail fencing for different areas. They like them to look authentic.
These are the FM clothes that we wear each day. Actually, they have ordered and given Sis. Paxman white coveralls to wear while painting and she spends alot of time in that. No picture though !! We wear proscelyting clothes to get groceries or go anywhere other that working at the FM. This is taken in the Visitors Center where we have alot of our meetings and our mission office is upstairs.
