Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 Jolene's responsibilities It has been a very normal / regular week so I decided to give you a view of what that looked like in my little world ! Next week, I'll show you what Jim's looks like. This is a picture of my "boss" Jared Willyerd. He is the head painter and is employed by FM. He lives in Fort Madison , Iowa ...so across the Mississippi river. It is only a 10 minute drive from Nauvoo and you get to cross this cool toll bridge that moves when a barge passes through so there have been a few mornings that he arrives late because he has been "barged" He is very easy-going and has to put up with us 3 FM ladies and a service missionary. We are still trying to convince him that climbing on ladders is hazardous to our health....so he usually comes and helps us out...haha! This is a picture of the 3 muskateers ! Left to right = Sis. Childers from Washington, myself, and Sis. Howard ...

Sunday, Aug. 19, 2018 Quiet Nauvoo It has amazed us this week.....Nauvoo has quieted down!! Alot of the tourists have left. I suppose that is because many of the schools down here start up again tomorrow. It is even beginning to look and feel like fall. The crops are getting ready to harvest and the third cut of hay has been off for about a week. The next cut will be ready again in about a month if we get any moisture. We are not hurting for moisture like you are at home but they still say that it is a dry year. On one of our last nights of Sunset, I looked up in the sky and there was a parasail (sp?) floating by. I was heading backstage and happened to be carrying my phone in my dress pocket so quickly took a couple of pictures....you can barely see him in the branches of the trees. He landed a couple of blocks away and we saw him heading out of town with it on our way home. Kind of a cool sight . Last night, ...

Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 Farewells Farewells....this week has been full of them ! We performed our last Sunset by the Mississippi on Friday and today we had a mission dinner to say farewell to all the YPMs as well as 10 senior couples who are leaving this week. It will be so quiet around here!! Whatever will we do with all of our time! I have a feeling that we will be kept busy filling into the holes that they leave because we are only receiving 2 senior couples at the end of this month. Every mission in the church is begging for senior couples to serve and ours is no exception ! Believe it or not, there is alot that each couple contributes just by sharing their light and service to all of us. I will be posting some pictures of these special people: I'm not sure what the thing above this picture is...but...this is our mission president. President Mark Lusvardi. He surprised us all on the last night and was the dancing / s...

Sunday Aug. 5, 2018 Again....another great week !! Jim had his cardiologist appointment in Quincy on Wed. and he recommended that Jim was a good candidate for an oblation procedure which is when they cauterize some nerve in the top of the heart that would prevent the heart going into A-fib. We told him that we wouldn't be doing that until after we return to Canada. So until then, we will be hoping that the new medication will keep his heart in rhythm and we will be looking into that when we return. On Monday, we had a mission fireside with Susan Easton Black Durrant. Some of you will recognize this name as she has written several books. She has done alot of research of Nauvoo and showed slides and gave some interesting facts. Her husband died some years ago and she remarried (George Durrant--who was a widower) You will recognize his name as he was the author of the Christmas booklet that we would r...
