Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018 Fall colors are so pretty here in Nauvoo !  I'll show you a few: This is on the road (Young Street) that takes us to our mail room and on up the hill to the temple  This is a tree in a yard not far from our house.  The grass is still green but the trees show colors of red, orange, yellow and brown.  It really is stunning.  Next....some pictures around the temple. And of course, I am trying to "boss" Jim around  to tell him where to snap next so he turns it on me...haha ! As promised, some of the decorations along the main drag (Mullholland St.) in preparation for the Boo-tiful Nauvoo pumpkin walk that was held on Saturday evening...Oct. 27.   I was totally unprepared for the kind of crowds that were here.  The parade was lead by the little oxen "in training" pulling a miniature wagon while the third one was lead by halter behind.  He is a wee bit balky and at one point he just planted hi...

Sunday, Oct. 20, 2018 In case you were wondering... Just in case any of you were wondering....I am related to my mother.  I will show you how. Yup....I did a face plant while I was working alone on Thursday.  I stepped on a round twig or a black walnut on the lawn and it was like stepping on ice.  Down I went but my face connected with the edge of the sidewalk.  I was really lucky that my teeth were fine !   I really wasn't hurt anywhere else...it just looks bad. Nauvoo and area are really getting into Halloween !   The streets are lined with manequins that are dressed up and some are really funny.  One business put up 3 square bales and dressed them up like minions....I'll get a picture of them for the kids to see next week.  Saturday is a big celebration here called "Boo-tiful Nauvoo"  Main street (Mullholland Street) will be lined with hundreds of carved pumpkins and they even shoot a pumpkin cannon off every 30 mi...

Sun. Oct. 14, 2018 Canadian Thanksgiving We had a great Canadian Thanksgiving day on Monday and hope that all of you did as well.  We invited 4 other couples to share a Thanksgiving dinner with us and some others invited us to celebrate with them so we combined forces and ended up with a dinner of 23 people.  Of course, our little place couldn't accomodate everyone so we booked the conference room in the FM main building and had a great time together.  Among some of our guests was Rick MacGregor and his wife and assistant, Fred .  He is a member of the Community of Christ that attends our prayer meeting every morning and he is a Canadian (born and raised in Ontario). Here are the couple of pictures that we took: Our week has been normal with our working each day on our various projects.  Sis. Howard & I finished the painting in the temple missionary housing.  They are all gone for the 3 months that the temple is closed so it was easier to ...

Sun. Oct. 7, 2018 General Conference I LOVE General Conference !  There have been many new additions to programs and challenges given that are exciting.  I am so grateful for a living prophet, Russell M Nelson, and his vitality and  challenges.  I intend to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year as well as incorporate his other challenges in my life.  How about you ?  We went for a walk this past week and found these.  They are pecans from a tree that grows beside the Brick yard.  What you see all over the ground are the green things like in the top of the picture.  When they are ripe, you can just break that open and the shell is inside (middle picture).  When you break that open, the pecan is inside.  We ate it and it was really sweet !  Much better than the ones that you buy in the store but they are abit more work !! An interesting thing happened on Thursday.  Jim was working on the fence at the W...
