Fall colors are so pretty here in Nauvoo !  I'll show you a few:
This is on the road (Young Street) that takes us to our mail room and on up the hill to the temple

This is a tree in a yard not far from our house.  The grass is still green but the trees show colors of red, orange, yellow and brown.  It really is stunning.  Next....some pictures around the temple.

And of course, I am trying to "boss" Jim around  to tell him where to snap next so he turns it on me...haha !

As promised, some of the decorations along the main drag (Mullholland St.) in preparation for the Boo-tiful Nauvoo pumpkin walk that was held on Saturday evening...Oct. 27.   I was totally unprepared for the kind of crowds that were here.  The parade was lead by the little oxen "in training" pulling a miniature wagon while the third one was lead by halter behind.  He is a wee bit balky and at one point he just planted his feet and stared at all the people.  The poor little guy could not budge him until he had his fill of looking at all the silly people and then he moved on.  It was pretty amusing !  The missionaries and town people had carved 500 pumpkins over the days leading up to this and they were very detailed.  We also handed out kettle corn bags and we ran out at 7000 bags !!  You literally could not find a place to park and walking was in a snail line-up but everyone seemed to be happy and patient.

This is a sampling of some of the 500 pumpkins that were carved and set along the sidewalk for the pumpkin walk last night.  There really is alot of work that is done for this fun event !!

Jim has put in a tough week (health-wise).  He was on an antibiotic for a sinus infection all week but it did not seem to be helping and he was miserable.  Finally, on Sat., we went to a walk-in clinic in Carthage and they changed his medication.  I guess we will see how much that is going to cost us !!  We did not want to go to emergency because of it being the weekend so this cost will come "out-of-pocket"  Our mission doctor recommended that we go and said that they would give us a discount by being missionaries.   He seems to be improving and we are hopeful that this medication will do the trick.  Alot of missionaries have been down with a bad cold/flu this week.

This past week , also, was the mission president's seminar here in Nauvoo.  We really did not get to meet or associate with any of them.....would have loved to have met the Calgary Canada mission president!  We did get to have a quick meeting with Elder Neil L. Anderson of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.  He was so gracious and kind....he insisted on shaking each of our hands and exchanged a quick greeting.  He also left a blessing on us , as senior missionaries.    He said that our service would seal in our hearts a deep witness of our Savior, Jesus Christ and that our generations following us would be able to look to us as being true and faithful.  I am grateful for this and know that the example of both of our parents in serving their missions as well as our children who served helped us in our decision to serve
