Sunday, June 30, 2019 HAPPY CANADA DAY! I have been thinking about the blessing it is to be born in a free country where we are able to worship and act according to the dictates of our conscious.  We, in Canada, are not only blessed with these freedoms (that we take for granted) but are also blessed with a beautiful country of diverse scenery.  For the record, I  am grateful for these blessings!   I have also been thinking of the fun and family associations that come with Canada Day and all the celebrations in Raymond.  Enjoy each of these things !!  I plan on doing some Canada Day decorations on our outside fence today and giving a plate of red & white cookies out to our neighbors.  Not sure that it will be appreciated but oh well.... Enjoy the pictures , as I take you through our week here in Beautiful Nauvoo:  We received a storm on Tuesday that had some wind (not quite as bad as we get at home) but because the trees do not ha...

Sunday, June 23, 2019 Summer , Maybe ?? We have had a very normal week.....except for the weather.  It has rained every other day...and by rain, I mean poured!  Many of the crops have not (and probably won't) been planted because the weather has been extremely wet and cold for this area.  The crops that were put in early are coming along except the low spots that are drowned out.  I am wondering if this weather is because the Lord wants the four houses that are being restored to be ready for the worst kind of weather and to be able to withstand it.  I will show you the houses: This is the Orson Hyde home.  As you can see, they have had to lift it off of the foundation and redo the foundation and basement.  They have removed additions to the back of the house to make it as it was originally.  This house is the only wooden structure out of the rest of the revovations and had alot of dry rot requiring new timbers, etc. This is the Willia...

Sunday, June 16, 2019 Happy Father's Day ! I feel very blessed to have my father here and a part of my life and the life of my family members.  He is faithful and loyal to his family and more importantly to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Because of his example and complete integrity, I chose a husband who also exemplifies those characteristics.  They are a forceful influence in my life and I am grateful for them both.   I , also, would like to pay tribute to our sons and son-in-laws who are great men who love and take care of their families.   This is what the YW passed out for the fathers after sacrament meeting today....cute candy-gram!   Jim really appreciated the phone calls and communication from our kids today. Jim finally finished and placed all of the picnic tables this week.  He checked back in his journal and realized that he started them the end of April but, of course, he was interrupted several times with o...

Sunday, June 9, 2019 And so on it goes ! As a  continuation to last week's post....  the part for David and Jill's car that came in on Monday was incorrect.  Apparently, it was "off" by one number and investigation showed that it was the warehouse that made the mistake so therefore no money was invested BUT the correct part had to be shipped from California and would not arrive for another 5 days. So....we determined to have Kendall take out a fuse or relay switch to turn off the defrost and fan and the kids decided to head out Tuesday morning.  They made it to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and had to stop and find a mechanic because that did not do the "trick"  Apparently, he was very good and kind and they were soon on their way home.  We will talk to them tonight....hoping that it did not cost them an arm and a leg !   Our week consisted of more of the same kind of stuff....Jim has been busy finishing off and placing picnic tables around Nauvoo....

Sunday June 2, 2019 And here it is....June already !  It has been a busy couple of weeks and I will try to catch you up !  First and foremost, we have been able to have David and Jill with us since last Sunday (hence no post last week)  They are still here awaiting a car repair.  I'll explain....last Monday, we had a full night of torrential rain.  Apparently, their windshield is not completely sealed and the rain came into their dash..completely soaking it and their electronics went wacko.  We pulled their vehicle into the garage and put 2 fans in it to dry everything out then disconnected their battery for a day, hoping that everything would reset.  Next, we had Kendall Gallaher (hired mechanic for FM) come and check out all the fuses.  It has come down to a part that they had replaced at home 2 months ago (used part ) So...Kendall has ordered the part which should be here tomorrow as long as one of the bridges across the river stays open....
