In case you were wondering...

Just in case any of you were wondering....I am related to my mother.  I will show you how.

Yup....I did a face plant while I was working alone on Thursday.  I stepped on a round twig or a black walnut on the lawn and it was like stepping on ice.  Down I went but my face connected with the edge of the sidewalk.  I was really lucky that my teeth were fine !   I really wasn't hurt anywhere else...it just looks bad.

Nauvoo and area are really getting into Halloween !   The streets are lined with manequins that are dressed up and some are really funny.  One business put up 3 square bales and dressed them up like minions....I'll get a picture of them for the kids to see next week.  Saturday is a big celebration here called "Boo-tiful Nauvoo"  Main street (Mullholland Street) will be lined with hundreds of carved pumpkins and they even shoot a pumpkin cannon off every 30 minutes.  Not sure where these are aimed at but will have to see.  I'll show you a house just down the street from us that we took a picture of last night and then a farm yard that is totally outlined with pumpkins that we pass by on our way to / from church in Quincy today.

The lights to this house are synced with spooky music....I just think of Emmett and his love of "pooky" things.  Each window glows red and the big candlebras line the sidewalk .  Pretty fun !

I took a panoramic shot of this so I hope that you can see it all on your computers.  The pumpkins line the driveway up to the house and then over to the shop.  There must be over a hundred of them.

Last week while we were painting on a house, the teamsters stopped and told us to hop on and they would take our picture.   This is a special wagon that they were using and getting the horses familiar with because they will be using it this next week for the mission president's conference here in Nauvoo.  It has fringe on top and is one of their "fancy" wagons.    As you can see by the background, the trees are showing some beautiful colors but the grass is still green.  Harvest is getting over the hump and will probably get wrapped up this next week.  Hopefully, the same is true back home.  We truly live in a beautiful world where there is variety and interest everywhere you look.

Jim has struggled this week with a cold / sinus infection but we are hoping that we are getting ahead of it.  Other than that, we are happy/ busy/ and satisfied with where we are and what we are doing.  We feel like we are doing our part in keeping Nauvoo beautiful and supporting the atmosphere that is part of Nauvoo.  We love you all and hope that you have a great week :-)
