Where has August gone?

Time is slipping away so quickly...I can't believe that August / summer is nearly gone.  The weather has cooled down the last couple of days and I am starting to see color changes in the leaves along the river road.  I always hate to see summer end! Although, I love the peaceful autumn days and the color changes....so...morale of the story....enjoy each and every moments of each day.

Elder / Sister Warner receiving their flag from Jordan. She took care of all of the mail delivery, etc. for the mission and he worked in the general construction area

Elder / Sister Corder receiving their flag from Jordan.  She was the front desk secretary for FM and he did masonry work
The face of FM is changing with the departure of these fine missionaries.  One thing I know, they are good friends that we would never have met without coming here.  Each couple has faced and overcome opposition in many forms to serve and I admire them for their example to us.  Wishing them both great joy as they return to family.

Monday, we got the opportunity to see the horses do their run from the pasture to the barn.  I really enjoy that!!  They start off with lots of energy and then they realize that they are being guided to the barn for their feeding in preparation for a normal work day and they slow down and start looking for a way to turn back.  It was quite comical !   They have worked hard all summer long and are getting tired.  I tried to post the video here but it didn't load so I posted in our family FaceBook ...but not even sure if it loaded there because I didn't get any responses.  I'll try again...hope that it works !  I got so excited about seeing this that I locked myself out of the vehicle....haha!  I had to call down to the compound and someone brought up the extra set of keys while I watched these "big boys" get fed and some of the grooming done before they were hitched up.

Tuesday, they were pouring cement at the Holiday Condos and we got  a dump of rain just after they poured so a quick call was put out...all able bodied humans showed up and held plastic over it for 2 hours while it set up and until the rain stopped.  Jim and twenty something other men showed up.

Darrell Layton (head plumber) was inside while the others were outside

Jim found a cinder block and sat on it so everyone else did the same thing !   Two hours is a long time to hold plastic! This  shows Elder Howard and Marty (head carpenter)
We had a mission dinner last night and all of the violinists did some fiddling for entertainment and it was alot of fun.  The guy is Ben Bedard from our FM presidency....he also plays for the Nauvoo orchestra at their productions.  All of the other fiddlers are missionaries...5 young sister and 2 senior sisters.

Some truths / gems of thought that I have remembered from this week:
#1  Joseph Smith taught that any of us who have bodies have greater power than those who do not (Satan and his minions) therefore we can say "Get lost !  or Not today, satan! " to temptations that come our way.  The miracle of our bodies is a blessing from our loving Heavenly Father for us to use in our progression.
#2  Studies have shown that there is a direct co-orrelation between loving God and loving ourselves.  As we express our love for God through our actions and obedience , we gain increased self-esteem and feel better about ourselves.

We are feeling the end our mission coming closer and faster and are striving to work hard to the very end !  We want to leave with no regrets knowing that we have given our ALL.   Have a great week!
